The control which Love held over all

I am in Laos P.D.R., and have gone there to welcome a newborn baby into our family. I’ve also been thinking about the coincidence of welcoming in of the newborn babe of the healing Christ that is unfolding in our consciousness at this Christmas time of the year.

While travelling I was praying with the first two lines of the Lord’s Prayer with it’s spiritual interpretation [p16 of Science and Health] knowing that “Our Father-Mother God is all harmonious”; a natural beautiful simultaneous expression of Love that is totally adorable  being revealed to everyone I meet, bringing unity.

I am visiting my daughter who has been living here in Laos, for twenty years and now has a seven-week old baby boy.

Asked to “baby sit” him while she and others went shopping, I was demonstrating, through my understanding of Christian Science, that my reason for being here is to prove that “… I am able to impart truth, health, and happiness, and this is my rock of salvation and my reason for existing” (My 165: 20).

She had impatiently brushed off a mosquito from his face! And as she stooped over him, I saw two aggressive bites above his eye; no one seemed to notice, so I pulled his hat over them, knowing we could only see what God sees; and that he could not be harmed by any of God’s creatures. Total harmony is the law to our situation and as Mary Baker Eddy understood, so baby too could, actually, only feel “…the control which Love held over all” and that “All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible.” (S&H 514:26-30).

I felt so peaceful about this and tied this treatment in a secure knot with God. Knowing that this truth of wellbeing “came forth from the Father,” as Jesus said coming into the world to cure all ills and is secured “in the Father.” All safe! (John 16:28).

I took him off on a walk as he slept calmly in his push chair!  When he woke up again I gave him his bottle, about the time of his mother’s return!  There was no sign at all of the bite I had seen.

Later I told her of the incident so that we could know that in these situations there was nothing to fear.

I was so grateful to see how responsive babies are to Christian Science treatment.
